Tips for Depression Caused by Vitiligo

Vitiligo is a long term skin problem that causes depigmentation in certain parts of the skin. This skin disease can affect anyone irrespective of age, ethnicity, gender or economic background. Although many scientists argue that the disease is caused by a virus, there are no conclusive results.

Vitiligo can easily cause depression because the society focuses on one’s appearance. If the disease is on the hands, face, or neck, people especially teenagers feel that the world is staring at them. Having different and visible pigmentation is enough to not only attract negative attention but to also make the patient suffer from low self-esteem. However, you should understand that vitiligo is not a life sentence and it can go away by itself, or it can be camouflaged and treated by a number of home remedies. Visit Tip Top Treatments for more information on natural treatment options for Vitiligo.

It can be hard to explain this to young people, and they usually get depressed because of the look the disease leaves on their skin. The following tips will help you or your loved one deal with the depression brought by vitiligo successfully.

Tips For Dealing With Vitiligo

Aim to boost your self-esteem

Vitiligo causes you to have a low self-esteem especially if you compare yourself with other people. This is so normal especially if you are a teenager or a young adult seeking to socialize and fit in various classes in the society.

With the patches on your skin and eyes all over you, it will seem hard, almost impossible to walk with your head held high. However, everyone has something that they have to live with and once you know that, you can manage to focus on other areas that explain your personality.

Let people see more than your skin. Improve on your attitude towards people, focus on your hobbies, only participate in constructive talks, walk away from bullies and surround yourself with people who understand you. This way, you will be too busy and too happy to be depressed.

See a therapist

A therapist will help you acknowledge your current state as a vitiligo patient. Vitiligo patients usually consider many faults in their lives and think that they are too bad looking to attract the attention of their dream partners.

The situation gets worse especially if a person is bullied and discriminated because of the skin condition. A therapist will show you how to cope, and you will be able to tell him/her everything in your mind, and this will bring you more peace than a person without vitiligo.

Look for medication

If you cannot sincerely get over the discolored parts of your skin, you can try and seek treatment for the illness. Currently, vitiligo has no cure, and the main aim of treating it is to reduce the contrast between the unaffected and affected skin. There are some resources which claim to be effective at naturally treating vitiligo (https://www.tiptoptreatments.com/michael-dawson-vitiligo-review/), but it is always smart to approach such claims with a bit of caution.

You can visit a verified dermatologist or just a general hospital and ask for the best way to reduce the contrast. However, you should be careful because the treatment reacts differently to various people and some people will seek to take advantage of your condition by overcharging you for treatment without positive results.

Tips And Advice For Dealing With Depression

In treating your depression, it is important to have basic knowledge about what you can expect, once you know what can happen to you then you can recognize it and deal with it. It’s also important to know what resources are available  to you, where you can go for information, where you can go for help and support. Once you have at least a basic understanding then you can work to change things in your life. You might be prescribed medication. That medication has the ability to restore some sense or normalcy to your mind and give you a greater quality of life. As with all medication there are potential side effects. Never rely solely on medication, if you want to get better then you have to play an active part in your treatment by getting therapy, getting some exercise in, and doing everything that you can to create a more positive you and a more positive lifestyle.

By decorating you home to be bright, upbeat and cheerful you will have somewhere to relax and chill out. If you are living in a bright cheerful home then it won’t feel like a prison. There are any number of reasons that you got depression and they will be personal and unique to you. One way to help yourself get better is to understand what is happening to you because once you do then the healing process can begin. Now I’m not saying that doing this will instantly make you better and you’ll live happily ever after, if that was the case then I wouldn’t have suffered from decades of depression. If you can identify why you are prone to depression then you can take action against it. And once you can take action then you can learn how to control your problems and once you can control your problems then they are a lot easier to deal with.

Fresh Flowers

It may be a cliche, but fresh flowers can help lift you up mentally. Flowers might not be your thing, but if your home is full of bright colours, if your garden is full of bright colours then you are going to feel good about yourself. If not already have you thought about taking up gardening, it’s a relaxing pursuit that gets you outside, that causes you to take action and gives you tangible evidence that you are doing something positive. You need to realize that you aren’t alone when you are suffering with depression. Feeling lonely will just make things worse. There is always somebody with a similar problem or somebody who is willing to help you. I know from experience that it’s easier said than done but do things that will help you to meet people. When you have people around you and you are doing something else than brood then it will take your mind away from your symptoms.

Having realistic expectations is vital to overcoming depression. Figure out what you expect and have as a priority in life. If these things are not within the realm of possibility, then change your expectations to something more realistic. If your expectations are not realistic, you’ll just be setting yourself up for failure, which can lead to more depression when you can’t accomplish them.Eat a healthy balanced diet and make sure that you eat 3 meals a day. A common effect of depression is reduced appetite, but giving in to this causes the depression to get even worse because you aren’t getting proper nutrition. Your body needs food to work, your brain needs food to work, so if you are starving yourself of the fuel that you need then you will suffer, and so will your mind. Depression can be a difficult condition to beat without a lot effort on your part. One way to start is to count the blessings you have, every day.

When you are feeling depressed, it is hard to feel grateful, but this is the perfect time to remember all the good in your life. It will inevitably create feelings of well-being.

Artificial Sweeteners

If you suffer from depression, it is important to refrain from drinking diet soda, and other foods that contain artificial sweeteners. By blocking serotonin in the system, sweeteners can lower your already low mood. Artificial sweeteners are also known to cause insomnia and headaches and can aggravate these depression symptoms. Make sure that you remove these things from your diet and try to stick to natural products.Don’t try to beat your depression all by yourself, trust me I’ve been there and it doesn’t work. Do what you can to keep your mind and your life active and positive. Try to identify the root cause of your depression so that you have something to work on. Get whatever support is available to you and use it! And whatever you do always believe in yourself, you can beat this thing, you just have to take action.

Panic Attack and Dealing With It

You are going on with the normal life, working, studying, watching TV, and meeting friends and suddenly in between any of these events, you start to feel a rush of fear. This fear overcomes you and leaves you petrified to degree that you cannot move or think despite a strong urge to get out this feeling.  This is exactly what many people who experience panic attacks go through. They are terrified of something or someone, they feel their heart throbbing, their pulse rating and a strong conviction that something really bad, like death, will happen to them.

So in a panic attack a person goes through extreme anxiety or fear without the presence of any evident danger. An example of panic attack would be a person, who leaves his home for work- sits in the car fearing that something bad will happen to him today- he gets tense as he starts his car- tries to distract himself- reaches the end of the street-feels that any car will hit him- starts breathing heavily- holds on to his car steering tight- everything in front of him blurs as the traffic is flowing on the road s- he fears that he will die- traffic sign opens- cars behind him start giving horns- he is terrified of death and cannot move his car an inch- he chooses to turn his car go back home. Many of us have our set of fears, its when these fears overtake our senses that a panic attack takes place.

When a person has a panic attack they start fearing that they will have it again and this terror adds to the intensity and frequency of attacks. Many people suffering from panic attack deliberately choose to avoid the situations, places or people that can trigger the attack. Thus while apparently they are trying to protect themselves, in reality they are limiting their life. Many people suffering from panic attacks also have related conditions like depression; when someone is depressed over a longer period of times they are more likely to have panic attacks.

At times panic attacks also instills agoraphobia, the fear of being away from home or the fear of being in places from where it would not be possible to escape in case of a panic attack. Other mental issues that are related to panic attacks can be sudden traumas in life, anxiety or phobias. Many a times people who experience panic attacks do not share their experience with others; they feel that they will not be able to explain their condition or they fear that many people would not understand, would make fun of them or would even believe them to be crazy.  Mostly it is when their situation gets worst and others start noticing that people suffering from panic attacks choose to go to a medical or counseling professional.

The medicines prescribed by many physicians to overcome anxiety and depression related with a panic attack might work in the beginning, but eventually they add to the issues being faced by the person going through the panic attacks. It might relieve the symptoms of panic attacks but once the person stops taking these medicines they are back in the situation with their intense fears and terror.

However services of a physician and medicine can be critical if panic attack is sign of a more complex health issue.I am not suggesting that one should not seek help of a physician in panic attacks but this should not be the primary mode of treatment if panic attack is the underlying mental issue. The most appropriate way to deal with panic attacks is to deal with the underlying fear associated with the attacks. Thus the treatment should combine a range of psychological and physical therapies. If you are going through panic attacks it is better to go and see a psychologist, a counselor, who will listen to your problem, identify the triggers and would try to help you with appropriate psychotherapies like cognitive and behavioral therapies. These therapies can work wonders in helping the people suffering from panic attack. It is also suggested that you join a group of class, like yoga or meditation that will help you relax through body therapy. Moreover, if the panic is not related to any obvious danger or any other medical condition, it is better to face it. If you choose to stay and face your panic, instead of running away from it, you will realize that it cannot harm you. It is surely easier said than done; when you are in a panic attack, your mind will trigger you to save yourself by escaping from the situation.

This is similar to the fight-or-flight response when faced with a danger or challenge, the initial response your brain will send you, when you are not in the freeze mode, is to run away. To escape the situation is tempting and is definitely the immediate way out of the situation but it is not the solution. In panic attack, there is no real threat to your life and you need to realize this; this realization will come when you do not give in to your extreme desire to escape. When you escape the situation in which you had the panic attack, you are actually reinstating your brain that you were posed by a serious threat and leaving the situation was your way to safe yourself. Thus the next time you are back in that situation or setting, your brain will interpret  it to be a threat and you will be more prone to recurrent panic attacks whenever you are in that setting again. So in order to break this vicious circle, you need to go through this panic attack by staying put in that setting and reassuring yourself that nothing bad will happen to you. You can try to observe your feelings or even try to busy yourself with whatever routine work you were doing before the attack. Do not try to analyze the situation; just be fair with  yourself on what you need to do. This is going to be hard but this will surely make you stronger. If you choose to stay and face your panic, instead of running away from it, you will realize that it cannot harm you.

Depression – Make Your Own Way to Counter it

How would one describe depression? The Oxford dictionary defines depression as “severe, typically prolonged, feelings of despondency and dejection”. Meriam Webster gives a more elaborated version of this definition as “a mood disorder marked especially by sadness, inactivity, difficulty with thinking and concentration, a significant increase or decrease in appetite and time spent sleeping, feelings of dejection and hopelessness, and sometimes suicidal thoughts or an attempt to commit suicide”Everyone one of us has there own expression and definition of depression that might not be similar to these standard versions. However being sad, gloomy or dejected lies at the core of depressions; the way these feelings are manifested in one’s behavior can differ greatly but these underlying emotions are still there. Some people going through depression just want to be left alone while other expresses it through being annoyed at every single person they meet when they are in the “mood”…The impacts of depression are not limited to the affects on our mood and energy though this how and where it starts.

We feel as if we are living a life deprived of any hope, lose our energy, experience lower self esteem, have a feeling of indecisiveness and cannot think straight.  But this just the start, the impacts of depression creep in and they start to cripple our whole life; our physical and mental health, our relationships and our work. There is increasing scientific evidence about how depression is related to various diseases like medical conditions of heart, bones, immune system and nervous system. Right now I am not going to get into the details of how exactly these issues are related to depression, let’s leave it for another post. Many of us go through periods of depression, for some this span expands over elongated period of times.

How we choose to deal with our depression makes all the difference. I believe that the first step towards dealing with depression is to recognize and accept that this is what you are going through. Because of some unexplainable reason many of us like to be in a denial when sufferings from depression; we tend not to admit it to ourselves, let alone seek help from a closed one or a professional consultant. In this state of denial when tend to drive people we love away by either staying alone, or reacting aggressively to their sincere attempts of help. This only worsens the situation as when isolated we tend to be more lost in the pit of hopelessness, thinking about nothing or everything and eventually being more dejected. Thus the first step towards recovery from depression is acceptance; an acknowledgment that you are suffering from depression. The second step is to make a deliberate attempt at fighting this awful illness; this is not going to be easy but this is the only way out towards leading a beautiful life. These deliberations can be a combination of various things ranging from seeing a therapist to meditating. Seeing a professional physicians and consultant will help as the medicines and consultancy will facilitate in balancing your mood and enable you to carry on with life. Nowadays, when there is an array of information available on internet, research about depression can also help those suffering from it; read inspirational stories of people who are leading a successful life while managing their condition and even share your experiences.

One significant step here would be to stay attentive towards the changes in your mood, when you realize that your mood is going down try taking preventive measures. Be mindful of the early symptoms, discuss these with your therapist and take measures when these signs start to surface. These measures can include taking a drug prescribed by your doctor or distracting yourself with something that makes your mood better. The distractions can include reading a book, watching a movie, listening to a cheerful song or talking to a closed one (over phone or in person). There will be times when you would feel that these distractions might not really work for you (particularly in the beginning) but be persistent and Do Not Give Up!

Have you ever experienced that when you are feigning something over a period, you actually start feeling or behaving that particular way. Like when you were in a really good mood but decided to put up an act where you are annoyed with your partner and realized that you eventually end up fighting? Did that ring a bell? This works the other way around too, when you are not feeling really energetic but participating in a cheerful conversation boosts your mood and all of a sudden you are smiling and talking animatedly. Try this act when you are going towards the depressing mood; instead of growing anxious about “ I am feeling depressed again” try telling yourself “Oh I just love smiling ”.

Create  your own customized therapy. How about making a list of the things you want to be grateful for? Cliché , but works. Or you can even start thinking about some great things you want to achieve.  Anything that helps you fell happy can be your own customized way of dealing with depression in a positive way. Go out for a walk, take deep breathes in fresh air, meditate, volunteer or take up anything that makes you feel great and that would be your therapy. The most important thing that you need to understand with depression is that no matter how horrible this condition is, You Can Defeat It with a positive attitude. As I said before this is not going to be easy but this certainly is possible. The key is to leave yourself with little time to be all alone by yourself and keep yourself busy with something positive that grabs your attention. Each little step that you take to make you feel better in depression is going to add up to make you stronger in countering depression.  Once you have set your self on this path, you will learn many beautiful things about yourself and life on the way. So cherish your little achievements and reward yourself for each of these accomplishments.

Internal Cleansing Tea

Cleansing TeaIf you are like me, you may be looking for an internal cleansing tea, and other ways to detoxify, so that you can experience better mental health.

Herbal teas that detox are considered to be an important part of most cleansing routines.

The theme of my website is based on finding ways to improve our bodies, particularly through nutritional cleansing, and feel better mentally as a result. It’s cleansing the body to clear the mind: The Body-Mind Connection.

How do you pick an internal cleansing tea for detox? Based on what I have experienced, the answer is that it is very difficult to choose. It simply has to be a personal choice. One cleansing herbal tea will work for you but it may not for me. And there are many. Honeysuckle Flower, Rose, Chrysanthemum, Burdock Root, Grape Root, Dandelion, Sarsapilla Root, Yellow Dock root, Turkey Rhubarb, Cat’s Claw, Lobelia, Pau d’Arco, Walnut Bark, Wormwood etc. Rose Hip, Green Tea, Golder Seal, Mullein, Gravel Root.

More than a hundred herbs, including all of the above, are commonly used in herbal tea manufacture. Teas in various blends and mixtures are selected depending on their ability to detox. Confusing? Yes it is. Can an internal cleansing tea target a specific organ? Some tea distributors give advice on choosing an herbal tea based on the organ of the body you may be trying to detoxify. For example, you would choose parsley and licorice root tea to cleanse the kidney. Green tea, rosemary, parsley and turmeric would target the cleansing of the blood. The theory is that some herbal cleansing tea blends support the eliminations of toxins from certain organs more than others. But how would you really know what part of your body is toxic compared to another? I doubt if toxins are that selective in choosing sites.

And then there is Green Tea. Green tea has been in the tea hall-of-fame for thousands of years. It has been promoted as having more health benefits than all of the others. Various scientific papers have suggested that it helps with cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, cholesterol reduction, heart disease and many others. The fact that it contains a powerful anti-oxidant(EGCG) may be the reason for its outstanding attributes. There is a suggestion that EGCG is even more powerful than Resveratrol, the health-promoting compound found in red wine. This might explain why heart disease among Japanese men is so low even though a huge percentage of them are smokers. Green tea is made using a steaming process which prevents the EGCG compound from loosing potency. Most of the other teas are fermented resulting in a chemical alteration of this anti-oxidant.

Is there a dark side to Green and Black Tea? A recent book states that the tea plant stores more fluoride than any other plant. This is due to environmental pollution which has increased, particularly over the last ten years. It is stated in the book that a cup of green tea contains as much fluoride (1mg) as a quart of artificially fluoridated water. Excessive fluoride consumption has been linked to arthritic symptoms. It is strongly suggested that you check to see if your green tea extract has been tested for fluoride content. What internal cleansing tea do I take? As part of my herbal cleansing routine

I take a combination of herbs and teas – Burdock, Suma Root, Liquorice Root, Fennel, Peppermint Leaf, Cinnamon Bark – that are blended in with other liver-supporting vitamins, trace elements and minerals.

This ensures that I am giving maximum nutritional support to my organs of elimination while I am cleansing. Internal cleansing tea is an important part of this process.

Health Benefits of Chocolate

Most of us love it. Some crave it, but are there really health benefits of chocolate? And are there specific benefits such as the alleviation of depression?

Regarding chocolate as a means of reducing blood pressure, cholesterol and lowering the body mass index and waist circumference, the evidence is quite good.

The Evidence

A study published in the American journal of Clinical Nutrition (July 2008, Vol. 88, 58-63) stated that chocolate “lowered blood pressure in overweight adults. ”

Another study, published in The Journal of the American Medical Association (2007; 298-9), stated that “Preliminary evidence suggested that regular consumption of polyphenols in cocoa (equivalent to at least 100 g of chocolate per day) was associated with lower blood pressure).

A study in the European Journal of clinical Nutrition (October, 2007) stated that chocolate, compared to candies, was associated with lower body mass and waist circumference.

It appears that the physical health benefits of chocolate are well documented.

Serious Chocolate Reviews

What about its effect on our mental state? Chocolate contains many chemicals that can affect our moods: caffeine, tyramine, flavonoids, phenylethylamine and others.

That theory is that these natural chemicals raise serotonin and endorphins levels; all the natural hormones that make us feel good and have a calming effect on brain function.

But this doesn’t happen to everyone.

How do you assess the results? A study was published in The British Journal of Psychiatry (2007, 191, 351-352) based on a survey of 2,692 who were suffering from clinical depression. 61% were classified as “cravers. ” This group rated chocolate’s capacity to improve their depressed mood as moderate to very important.

The study said that, after eating it, they were more likely to feel significantly less anxious and irritated. It also stated the craving might predict atypical depression status.

The Dark Side Part 1

Other people report that they experience a psychological crash after the feelings of euphoria have worn off. It may be the result of eating cheaper chocolate which is loaded with sugar, fat and calories.

Commonly referred to as the rebound effect, or the sugar high, it may actually worsen a depression.

In this situation the health benefits of chocolate would be minimal.

With moderation in mind, and if I could, I would like to ask these people about the amount of chocolate they are eating.

The Dark Side Part 2

In her recently published book, Bitter Chocolate: Investigating the Dark Side of the World’s Most Seductive Sweet Carol Off of CBC Radio detailed the sinister world of the cocoa industry.

There are facts about chocolate that we chocolate lovers should know about.

Due to extremely low prices, farmers in countries such as Ivory Coast in West Africa are using child labour to harvest the cocoa beans. The children are imported from adjoining countries such as Mali and Burkina Faso.

Body Detox Program

If you are looking for depression help, a body detox program may work for you. Are you doubtful? If you are not convinced about toxins, you might be interested in this:

People who do a nutritional cleanse and detoxification regularly report that they experience:- Greater mental clarity and balanced moods- Increased energy and desire to exercise- Natural weight loss due to toxin reduction- Improved metabolism resulting in a feeling of well-being. It’s cleansing the body to clear the mind. Nutritional cleansing can help your body to remove impurities and should be an important part of any body detox program.

Many ways have been suggested to cleanse and detoxify one’s body.

The simplest way, which is recommended by some authors, is to stop eating for a period of days. They advise you to rest and sip water with lemon to avoid dehydration. In other words, start a prolonged fast. This might work for some people, but, personally, I don’t want to shock my body when my ultimate objective is to rejuvenate my jaded liver and other organs. I will give this one a miss.

A natural body detox program, which I like, as it appeals to common sense, is to follow a specific routine:

  • Set aside one day for cleansing
  • Prepare for that day at least two days ahead
  • D-Day: Your cleansing day routine
  • Your everyday routine

STEP 1: Set Aside One Specific Day For The Cleanse Day

If you want to use nutritional cleansing for maximum effect as part of your body detox program, you should set aside one specific day for the cleanse day. Plan this day so that it does not clash with any intense physical activity or intense social activity where food will take centre stage e. g. the mother-in-law coming to your house for a turkey dinner.

STEP 2: Preparint Your Food

As you are preparing for the day of natural cleansing, it really helps to eliminate or drastically reduce your intake of unhealthy foods for at least two days prior to this. Hundreds of books have been written on dieting in the last fifty years. I have a very simple approach to all of this: avoid the unhealthy food first and then eat what you like from the rest. We all know what the term unhealthy food entails: sugar-laced foods, artificial sweeteners, fatty meats, processed anything, salt-saturated canned foods, deep-fried anything, caffeine-laced drinks. Some experts recommend eating organic foods only, which is good if you can afford it. A liver-friendly cleansing diet should be a big part of any body detox program. This will support the body’s natural cleansing process. It would be patronizing of me to continue as most people know what bad food is. Of course, it might be very difficult for some people to totally eliminate the above list from your diet, and that is why I use the words “drastically reduce,” at least to begin with. As you start to feel better due to regular cleansing, the desirability, the allure, of non life-supporting foods will naturally be decreased; you will experience a falling-away sensation as compared to you having to give them up. A healthy body will naturally and instinctively crave life-supporting food and a healthier lifestyle. Like an Olympic athlete preparing for the big event, you should think of yourself as someone in training to fortify your body for the cleansing day. Shake a little

During this preparatory stage for natural herbal cleansing as part of a body detox program, I like to take the strain off my digestive system by taking a liver-friendly, nutritionally high-powered liquid protein smoothie, or shake, once or twice a day for two days leading up to the cleansing day. These liver-supporting shakes function as a meal replacement. Many people only take one solid nutritional, high-fibre meal during the day during this pre-cleanse stage of one to two days, which is a good idea. What should be in the shake? It should have a comprehensive list of vitamins, minerals, trace elements, probiotics, soluble fibre and protein. There are many excellent commercial shakes suitable for nutritional cleansing.

The one I use with success is a natural herbal cleanser

It has liver-friendly content:Amino Acids, Minerals, all the vitamins (A, B and C), Magnesium, Potassium, Calcium, Folic Acid, Whey Protein (hormone-free), Iodine, Zinc, Enzymes for digestion (Lipase, Protease, Amylase), Psyllium (for regularity) and Probiotics (the good bugs such as Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium). Although contents will vary among manufacturers, these are the main ingredients for optimal effect. There should be no artificial sweeteners and it should be gluten, barley and wheat-free if this is a health issue with you. Drink Water! This is so important I can’t stress it enough. As you are cleansing your body of toxins as part of a body detox program, it makes sense to flush, flush and flush that liver again with at least 8 glasses of filtered water every day. It makes a lot of sense as natural cleansing will be accelerated by stimulating all the organs of elimination. (If you weigh 180 pounds, drink 90 ounces of water per day – half your body weight)

STEP 3: D-Day

containing all the rejuvenating B vitamins and Betain HCl. It has good herbal cleansing content: Turmeric, Liquorice Root, Fennel Seed, Peppermint Leaf, Burdock Root, Aloe Vera and Herbal Cleansing Tea such as green tea and Pau d’arco.

These herbs have been used as gentle internal cleansing agents for centuries. Depending on the instructions, you may have to take the cleansing solution, with many glasses of water, three to four times spaced throughout this day.

STEP 4: The Next Day And Everyday

This is my favorite part. Replacing the essential nutrients at the cellular levelWhen you take your car to the garage to get your radiator flushed out and the oil and brake fluid changed, you are not going to ask the mechanic to replace them with impure fluids as this would defeat the purpose. Likewise, with internal cleansing as part of your body detox program, you have just taken action which has helped you to remove impurities.

You will now benefit greatly by literally flooding your liver with stimulating and powerful nutritional replenishment in the form of an easily digestible shake as mentioned above. Start off your day with this shake. Bombard and rejuvenate your system with all the minerals, vitamins, protein and herbs that your body needs and loves. And then, later on in the day, ease back into regular eating by starting with a small meal first. HOW WILL THIS CLEANSING BENEFIT ME? The body knows what to do when you give it what it needsYou may experience more energy, better mental clarity and alertness now that you have reduced the number of harmful impurities in your body. And, at the risk of sounding repetitive, if you continue to eliminate, or drastically reduce, the bad stuff from your cleansing diet, you will be boosting your liver function daily in preparation for an even more natural cleansing the next time. This should fit nicely into your body detox program.

10 Things To Do When You Have Depression

Natural cures for depression could be hard to find especially if you don’t want to take medication.

The best natural cure for depression that I have found is to get to know yourself better.

I know you probably came to this website expecting a Magic pill. But the magic pill does not exit. And if it exists it definitely has lot of side effects.

If you get to know yourself then you will be able to cope with your problems better. In fact, you will be able to find the root of all your problems.

You are probably saying: “I know myself already”. Honestly, I don’t think you do! Only few people in this world are able to know themselves completely.

When you know yourself, you will find inner-peace. Happiness. You will know your purpose in life. You will know all your weakness, and you will know all your strengths.

If you would know yourself then you would not be here finding natural cures for depression.

Getting to know yourself is a journey. It can be hard because when you get to know yourself it means taking a close look at your weaknesses.

It means analyzing yourself… Analyzing yourself is one of the hardest things to do. Because is painful. And we usually try to avoid pain as much as possible. We are experts at running away from the source(s) of our own pain.

HopeIn this journey I found a lot cures. But the cures that I found may not work for you. Just like a certain medication can work better for your body, than it does to me. We are all different.

I decided to avoid the Magic pill. I decided to find cures on my own. And one of the ways to do that was to get to know myself better.

Because most of the problems in my life has to do with the person living inside my body.

I know is hard to have depression. Because many people don’t understand. Many people will claim that they have the best cures for depression.

If you tell your mom that you feel sad…. She won’t understand your depression. She will tell you all you need is to think/focused on happy things… and you will feel better. But what about if you already did, and you still feel depressed?

It is like when you ask a friend the fastest route to go to heaven… Some of them will tell you to read the Bible and follow it strictly. Other friend will tell you that heaven does not exist.

The reality is that people are going to give you different advices because they have different experiences. Some of them will tell you that they know the cures.

Every person is a whole new world.

Nobody knows the best cure.

Your duty is to realize that everybody lives in a different world different from yours. Therefore, people will give advice according their own beliefs, and experiences.

You must find quality information… Because too much quantity of information can make you more depressed. There is lot cures for depression here in the Net…

But you have to be clear that there is quantity not quality.

If you are depressed, your goal is to be happy. So if you go to a doctor, he will tell you the fastest route to be happy is by following a medication regimen.

If you go to a psychologist, he/she will tell you… Pay me this amount of money for 10 visits…. And I will show you the best cures.

There is nothing wrong with consulting a doctor… but most medical doctors… All they do is to treat your symptoms..

If you have a headache… They tell you: “here take some Tylenol.”. If you lack appetite… Here take some more medication. Doctors rarely deal with the root of the problem.

I know, I get migraines every time I skip a meal. If I did not know that skipping meals gives me migraine(the root of my migraine is skipping meals).

If I did not know the root problem, the doctor will probably prescribed me a pain medication… and he will ignore the actual root of the problem.

Medications usually treat symptoms, not the roots of the various problems.

If you have depression, the doctor will only treat the symptom of depression, not the root of this problem.

Psychologists could probably do a better job than doctors. They can hold your hand and guide you to the right route. The route to become happy.

The only problem that I see with a psychologist is that is a slow process to cure your depression. A long journey. It might take months or even years to see results. So if you want quick results, a Psychologist may not be one of the best cures for your depression.

I started curing my depression about 2 months ago. I decided not to go to a Doctor or to a Psychologist. It would have probably helped me a lot.

But I decided to enjoy the journey.

I decided to go from point A to point B. Where point A is depression and point B is happiness.

Maybe, if I have visited a psychologist, I would be in point B right now. But I would have missed the journey.

I know that even if I am point B right now… It is impossible to stay there permanently because we live in a fast pace world.

But what I have learned is the more you know about yourself, the stronger you become. I don’t get depressed that often. Maybe because I don’t seek approval from anyone.

Before I used to get depressed when a person rejected me. Not no more. When you choose to get to know yourself, you will become happy and stronger.

Whatever is causing your depression right now is not going to be significant 20 years from now….

In this journey, I have learned a lot about myself. I found a lot cures for depression. I have learned to listen to my emotions, to listen to my body, to feel peace within myself.

Couple of months ago, I slept a lot. I slept more than 13 hours daily. I was too lazy. And I used to have a migraine all the time. Because I was too depressed to eat.

I did not know myself… Some times, I felt anger for no reason. And sometimes, I felt anxious. Other times, I just wanted to kill myself. I did not know the person that was living inside my body. I still don’t claim that I know that person living inside my body, but I am getting to know him slowly.

I know the person inside of me loves to self-sabotage. He loves to be lonely. And he loves to have clutter everywhere. Sometimes, he wants to sleep a lot.

And sometimes, he wants to cry for no reason. I don’t judge him. I just observed.

I know humans hate changes. So this person living inside my body is no different. I am slowly changing him. I am teaching him good habits. For example, my room was always messy, now is impeccable. I feel good finding cures for my depression.

I still have a lot of bad habits, But I am changing them into positive one, one by one. And is working, I don’t eat fast food anymore. My waist line went from 35 to 33. I have more energy. And I feel good about myself.

I don’t own a microwave. I cook my meals the old style (on the stove with a frying pan). When I had a microwave, I was lazy.

I used to go the market, and buy frozen food. So I put it on the microwaves, and then eat it. I don’t do that no more. If I want to eat then I have to use the stove.

I know that I can become happy without taking medication. Because I know myself more than any Doctor or Psychologist.

You know your needs more than anyone. If you think medication will help to cure your depression. Then go and take medication.

If you think you need to go to a psychologist… Then go. You know yourself better.

I decided not to go and asked for help. Because I am enjoying the journey… and I love it!. Maybe is not the shortest route to cure my depression, but from my own perspective, I think is the best.

Here some of the many cures for depression that I have found:

  1. Make your own decision. Try to make decision on your own without anyone assistance. If you make a bad decision, then learn from the experiences, and move on. When you are in a “low mood”, avoid making life changing decisions. Don’t sign any contract. And don’t try to make any decisions that will jeopardize your future. Hold any decisions, until you feel better.
  2. Reward yourself constantly. My definition of depression is not loving yourself. When you reward yourself, you are loving yourself. I have different ways that I reward myself. I usually buy a Monster drink(I love this drink), or I usually eat Pizza. I always practice moderation. So don’t try to eat 20 slices of pizza by yourself. I only eat to satisfy my craving, so use moderation.Others free rewards that I constantly use: is getting a hot shower, reading a book(I guess I am nerd), and watering my plants. Some days, I love to fix my house. This rewards only work for me, but they might work for you. Every day take an inventory of the things you enjoy… and do it often… and I guaranteed you, you will feel good.
  3. Create. Direct all your depression energy into some creative. For example, when I am in a low mood. I want to write. Other times, I like to work out. In fact, I usually get one of best work out when I am depressed. Some people like to paint when they are depress. Some people write sad songs. Experiment… what are the things that you love doing? If you like to sing: experiment singing while you are in a low-mood, you’ll be amazed.
  4. Stand up for yourself. Two weeks ago, I went to a Mexican restaurant and I found a fly on my drink… I returned it immediately. I felt good. Because back then, I would not complain at all. Now if I have a problem with my phone bill, I call customer service right away. Even though, sometimes, they put me on hold for hours. The reality is that people take advantage of people that don’t stand up for themselves. Sometimes, even your family can take advantage of you when you don’t speak up.
  5. Avoid processed food. I don’t think it was a coincidence that I immediately felt happier, once I stop eating fast food. As a result, my energy level went up, and now I don’t get depress that often. Before I used to eat fast food everyday, I don’t know if there is a chemical or something that make you depress. But I would not doubt it. Now I usually cook my meals at home.
  6. Clean your room. You first task of your day should be clean to your room. You spend at least 1/3 of you life in you bedroom. So make sure is clean and organize. Also, make sure you sleep in a comfortable bed. Your room and your bed should be a place where you feel calm, where you feel secured. Your room should look impeccable. Make a habit to clean your room everyday.
  7. Monitor your habits. Small habits lead to big habits. If you have a mess on your room, you probably have mess everywhere. My room used to be a mess. And I found out that everything in my life was messy, my car, my garage, my bathroom. So I was a messy person.
  8. Observed other people. Observed other people that you think are genuinely happy. Watch their habits. What are they doing right? Watch other people that you think are depressed. Analyze them. What are they doing wrong? I know is hard to find out who is sad and who is happy. But one easy way to find out who is happy is to observe how the person treats an other person. If the person criticize or complains a lot… Then, that’s not a good sign of happiness.
  9. Eat more fish. If you don’t have the time to eat fish. Buy a fish oil supplement. Studies have show that criminals have low DHA(A fat that is included in a fish oil tablet) Other studies show that people with anger problems have low DHA levels on their blood stream.
  10. Join a club. Humans being want to feel belong to something, whether is a gang or a business, we want to feel connected to other people. I do Martial Arts. It has helped me lot on my journey to cure my depression.

I’m enjoying the journey of curing my depression on my own. It can be hard to find the ones that work because it takes time, and a lot of awareness.

I don’t know if I am doing the shortest route. But I do know that I am going to the right route because I hardly get depress now.

I am curing my depression on my own, but we are all different. What works for me, it may not work for you. Your emotions intensity might be different from mine.

You don’t know what’s going to help your depression until you try. Experiment with different things. If finding cures for depression is hard for you. Seek professional advice.

Postpartum Depression Signs – What To Look For

There are different types of postpartum depression signs – after birth blues is a condition that can affect almost 80% of mothers after delivering their baby, but this condition is not severe and lasts just for a few days or weeks.Symptoms of this kind of baby blues are prolonged and frequent bouts of crying for no reason at all and a feeling of anxiety and sadness etc.

The condition that is even more severe than the baby blues. And if it is not treated then it could be dangerous for the mother as well as the baby. Signs range from experiencing “highs” and “lows” to extreme fatigue and helplessness.

For this type of treatments with antidepressants and psychotherapy are found to be very effective.nIf left untreated, then it can lead to postpartum psychosis which is a very severe form of the condition and one that needs immediate medical attention.

Though rare, the signs are paranoia, hallucinations and delusions. There is an increased risk of suicide and harm to both the baby and self.

New mothers should definitely seek good professional help when it is noticed that the usual symptoms keep persisting. These signs or symptoms are:

  • No ability to concentrate on anything.
  • Persistent feelings of guilt, shame and inadequacy.
  • Withdrawal from friends and family.
  • Thoughts of suicide and harm to the baby.
  • Difficult to bond with the infant.

Being alert and finding out if the above mentioned signs pertain to you or a loved one is important. In this way you will be able to find the medical treatment which is right and ideal.

Since we know that there are hormonal factors which are unique to all women that contribute to the depression in some, it is essential to identify stress triggers.

It is also possible that when a woman is tired after giving birth and overwhelmed with the new baby, that doubts arise about her ability to be able to cope with her new responsibilities as a good mother. There is always a need for mothers to be the “perfect mom”.

Some signs are easy to read but other reasons could also be factors like a history of depression in the family, birth or even pregnancy problems, financial problems, a total lack of support from friends and family, youth and even drug and substance abuse.

These are signs that cannot be ignored, and the person should be under surveillance and monitoring for further symptoms that appear.

Though some mothers may show signs of having the baby blues in the beginning, the symptoms may later on persist and become more severe.Signs like thoughts of hurting the newborn baby or self and lack of interest are what should be noticed and picked up.

It is of utmost importance that once these signs are noticed either by family or the mother herself, the woman should be treated for postpartum depression as quickly as possible.

Remember that normal depression or baby blues should disappear after around two weeks. Anything that persists or crops up beyond that should be taken seriously.
